United Giving work with a number of organisations to improve local fundraising and make it easier for people to donate or sell their quality furniture & homewares
I want to donate to a charity shop but they are only when I am at work and I cannot drop things off easily?
United Giving work with schools, churches, sports clubs and places of business as "drop off" points. If you are dropping the kids of at school anyway, it is no inconvenience to drop off your donation as well
You can book a free home collection, we can collect after 5pm
I want my donation to make a direct impact locally!
When you donate your preloved items to United Giving you can choose who you want to benefit locally. Whether that is a school, church, sports club or even charity we will give your chosen organisation money based on the items you donate
United Giving have a target of "zero to landfill" We have partnered with a number of organisations and created a system that means we can generate income from pretty much anything. We have a team of young people on various apprenticeships with us who we train to sort, disassemble, restore and repair items that others would reject. We work to ensure maximum return for everything.
Examples:
A second hand washing machine. Once tested and checked, if working we clean up and put on the shop floor to sell. If it fails the test, we do not simply scrap it for £3-£4 but remove the working parts and separate the more precious metals. This means we can recover up to 10 TIMES more money from the washing machine instead of scrapping.
Broken Furniture. We train our young people in furniture restoration. That means we can repair and sell items that would of otherwise be been sent to the skip!
Tired Furniture. Again, our young apprentices are trained in refinishing and upcycling. This means we get an item of used furniture that not only sells for a low price, but sells slowly because it isn't appealing and upcycle and refinish it. Meaning it will last longer, look better and sell in some cases 20 TIMES more money than simply putting it straight out on the shop floor.
Obviously, we would much prefer donations of quality vintage furniture and contemporary furniture that sells immediately, however we all know that vintage Ercol table is not in everyone's property and instead of disappointing customers, we prefer to say yes and train young people to make the most of everything that is kindly donated to us
Our History
In 2018 United Giving grew as an off shoot of The ReSport Project in Widnes, which is a project operated by The Cathie Stankevitch Foundation Charity.
The ReSport Project, as the name suggests collects unwanted sports equipment and clothing that has been donated to us. The donated clothing or equipment is then redistributed or sold to provide charity funds and equipment to local sports clubs, schools and individuals in the local community of Halton, Cheshire.
Project Expansion and Growth
Through the charities many contacts and with the support of many of the charities friends we realised that we could provide a much more inclusive and wider ranging service to the local communities. Not just those in Halton. We knew we could do so much more and help many more people through the project and charity
So the team from Cathie Stankevitch Foundation and The Resport Project set up United Giving. A Social Enterprise Limited by guarantee that via our supporting schools and businesses will;
- Make it much easier for you to donate your unwanted goods
- Take as much as possible, reject almost nothing
- Have the ability to do more with what you donate
- Accept many types of faulty and broken items
Our simple objective is;
Recycle more, Reuse more, Raise more
Today United Giving is ready to take on the challenges within the charity sector. Making it easy to donate unwanted goods by dropping them off at your school or place of work. United Giving will then collect your donations from a single location in bulk, saving everyone time and money.
We then take those donated preloved items, sort, clean and repair if necessary. We can then redistribute or sell to raise funds for local schools, churches, charities etc..

The Future;
We wont stop here, we already have more plans to expand into other areas geographically and have plenty of ideas of how we can help the charity and other charities by accepting even more kindly donated items.
We are on an exciting social journey, one which we really hope you will be involved with in any small way.
We know if we work hard enough and have the love and loyalty of the many amazing people in our communities, together we can build a much happier, kinder and prosperous future for everyone today and tomorrow.
That’s why we are United!
Kindly Supported by The Keyfund, whom without their help and understanding we would not be here
